This case, which was consolidated with the case of Martin v. Department of Highways, et al, for purposes of trial, arises out of an accident which happened when Henry Martin drove a vehicle into a canal which traversed an allegedly abandoned stretch of State Highway 1025 in Livingston Parish. As a result of the accident, Martin was injured and his guest passenger, Winniefred Rebecca Gayle, was killed. A suit for wrongful death was brought by Miss Gayle...
