In the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, these appellants were convicted of and sentenced to the maximum term of imprisonment for a violation of section 241, Title 18, United States Code, which makes it a criminal offense to conspire against rights of citizens secured to them by the Constitution or laws of the United States.1
