The State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways, expropriated a portion of a tract of land owned by the defendant, Mrs. Oma Breedlove DeLoach. It deposited $1,750.00 in the registry of the court as its estimate of the compensation due for the property taken and for severance damages.
