On June 21, 1963, the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways, expropriated for highway purposes portions of two tracts of land owned by the defendant, Edward C. Breedlove. It deposited $7,070.00 in the registry of the court as its original estimate of just compensation for the property taken and for severance damages.
