While rounding a curve on Essex Street in Millburn at about 11 P.M. on October 15, 1965, the defendant drove his car into a tree along the street curb. The damage to the tree was trivial or insubstantial but the car suffered considerable damage to its bumper, its front right fender and its headlights.
