In his brief on appeal, defendant described the circumstances of his arraignment as follows:

"Erwin Wurtz, a young man of approximately 26 years of age, was brought before Macomb county Circuit Judge Howard R. Carroll on October 2, 1957, for arraignment, on the charge of robbery armed. * * * He was not represented by counsel at the arraignment. The information charged Wurtz with having robbed Reichardt Tassie Tavern, * * * on September 28, 1957...
