Defendant Louis Van Duyne was tried in the Passaic County Court on an indictment charging him with the murder of his wife Carol. The jury found him guilty of murder in the first degree and recommended life imprisonment. Following imposition of that sentence he appealed directly to this Court pursuant to R.R. 1:2-1(c).
