On October 27, 1955, Damanti, a long-shoreman in the employ of a stevedore, Daniels & Kennedy, Inc., was injured while moving a hatch cover beam with a beam jack supplied by the ship on defendant A/S Inger's vessel Elin Hope, time chartered to Illinois Atlantic Corp.
