At about daylight on the morning of August 22, 1960, a pickup truck being driven by Albert Monroe Hodge on the business of his employer, T. C. Young Construction Company, collided with an automobile driven by Grant "Junior" Brown. In the accident Brown re-injured a collar bone that had been fractured a little over three weeks before.
