The defendant, Robinson, was indicted separately (a) for several substantive offenses under the lottery laws and (b) for conspiracy to violate these laws. Under the substantive offense indictment he was found not guilty on a charge of selling lottery tickets, but he was found guilty of keeping a "place" — an automobile1 — for the sale...
