Sergio DeGioia, a longshoreman, was injured while unloading the S. S. American Chief at the Brooklyn Army Base. Alleging that his injuries were caused by the negligence of the shipowner and the unseaworthiness of the vessel, he brought an action against the vessel's owner, United States Lines Company. In turn, United States Lines Company impleaded DeGioia's employer, American Stevedores, Inc., and Imparato Stevedoring Corp., a firm responsible...
