As a result of a need for closer public control over credit life insurance demonstrated in the studies and hearings of its Joint Committee on Commerce and Economic Development, the Legislature in 1958 amended sections 154 and 204 of the Insurance Law to broaden in the field of credit life insurance the powers of the Superintendent of Insurance.
