Plaintiff, Freddie Smooth, a longshoreman, instituted this suit against the defendants, Southern Stevedoring Company, Inc. and its compensation insurer, Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company, endeavoring to recover maximum workmen's compensation benefits for injuries to his back and left inguinal region, which he asserted were incurred while lifting a heavy sack of paint compound in the course of his employment...
