The collision occurred in the daytime on August 28, 1955, at the intersection of County Trunk M, an arterial highway, and Woodale avenue. The highways cross at right angles. A "Stop" sign directs drivers on Woodale to stop before entering County Trunk M. Leiterman, driving east on Woodale, did not stop for the arterial, as the jury found, and his automobile was struck on its right side by Wallenfang's car which was going north on County Trunk M.
