On June 8, 1954 appellant, a classified employee under the State Civil Service System, sustained a serious injury while working in the employ in the Louisiana Department of Highways. As a result, he was completely disabled from the date of the accident until the early part of February, 1956, when he was discharged by his doctors as being able to resume the customary duties of his job as a bridgeman.
