This appeal is from a judgment for damages resulting from injuries sustained when plaintiff fell on a stairway in defendant's department store.1 The stairway led downward in a westerly direction from the mezzanine to the first floor, and all of the steps, except the two at the bottom, adjoined a wall on the north side.
