CROCKETT, Justice.

An explosion of natural gas and resulting fire destroyed the home of Ned L. and Edna D. Wightman in Spanish Fork, Utah at about 1 a.m. on March 16, 1954, killing Mr. Wightman, the only one at home at the time.

Mrs. Wightman sued the defendant gas company for damages to property and the wrongful death of her husband. Since no specific acts of negligence could be shown on the part of the gas company, the plaintiff had to rely upon res ipsa...
