From June 30, 1945, to June 30, 1947, James A. Russell rented premises at 764 North Sixth street, Milwaukee, under written lease from Edward J. Pelikan. Russell operated a tavern upon these premises. Pelikan served notice upon Russell terminating tenancy as of June 30, 1947. Russell failed to surrender possession at the time demanded, and an unlawful-detainer action was commenced by Pelikan in the civil court of Milwaukee county for Russell's eviction...
