On January 17, 1953, at ten o'clock a. m., the defendant, Oscar Whiteman, Jr., entered a plea of guilty to murder in the first degree before the district court of Dunn County, North Dakota. After the entry of this plea, the court questioned the defendant concerning the facts and circumstances involved in the crime charged against him of murder in the first degree of Cynthia Starr.
