George O. Hillard, Sr. sued his wife for a separation of bed and board on the grounds of abandonment.

In her answer the wife, Mrs. Hazel Merrill Hillard, denied that she had abandoned her husband without just cause, and she set up a reconventional demand by way of an amended petition, in which she prayed for a judgment of separation from bed and board on the grounds of cruel treatment.
