This is an appeal on questions of law from a verdict of murder in the first degree, with a recommendation of mercy, by a jury in the Court of Common Pleas.

It appears from the evidence that Ethel Landrum, defendant, married William Landrum in 1940. He was a big man and a good worker with a habit of becoming intoxicated almost every week-end, at which time he would beat up, abuse and mistreat his wife shamefully. Seven witnesses took the witness...
