By an indictment returned by the grand jury of Orange County, defendant was charged in three separate counts with the crimes of (1) child stealing (Pen. Code, § 278), (2) kidnapping (Pen. Code, § 207), and (3) murder (Pen. Code, § 189) of Patricia Jean Hull, aged 10 years. The crimes were alleged to have been committed on May 19, 1951.
