This is an appeal by Horace Girardeau Leland, hereinafter referred to as defendant, from his conviction, along with seven other defendants, under an indictment charging conspiracy to violate certain sections of the Internal Revenue Code dealing with the manufacture of distilled spirits. 26 U.S.C.A. Int.Rev.Code, § 2800 et seq. Some of the other defendants were also charged with substantive offenses at the same trial, but only the conspiracy...
