The plaintiff, Standard Register Company, brought three suits against the defendant, American Sales Book Co., Inc., for infringement of patents owned by the former. The answer in each suit presented a defense of "unclean hands" alleging that the plaintiff had so misused its patents as to bar their enforcement in the suit.
