This is a petition for a writ of habeas corpus to release one Hachiji Shibata, a native and citizen of Japan, who has been arrested on a deportation warrant.

The material facts may be briefly stated. The alien has resided in the United States for the greater part of the last 20 years. His last entry was in 1919. On July 16, 1926, on a plea of guilty, the alien was sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment...
