MANTON, Circuit Judge.

The appellee was born in Germany on September 5, 1889. He came to the United States on October 1, 1894, with his parents, and made his residence in Brooklyn, where he attended school, preparatory school, and later, in 1912, graduated from Colgate University, at Hamilton, N. Y. Then 23 years of age, he accepted employment with the Standard Oil Company of New York, and 4 months later he was transferred to their branch in Manila, Philippine Islands...
