In March, 1925, one J. F. Somers, a resident of Salisbury, Rowan county, N. C., began negotiations with appellee, Albert Pick & Co., an Illinois corporation doing business in Chicago, for the purchase of hotel furniture and equipment to the amount of $43,614.63. The sale was made, and on June 1, 1925, Somers, having paid the corporation $14,538.20, executed a chattel mortgage to secure 18 notes, dated May 7, 1925, signed by Somers, and...
