Prior to March 1, 1913, defendant in error became one of three partners in a wholesale grocery business in Nashville, Tenn., operating under the firm name of Orr, Mizell & Murrey. On September 1, 1919, he purchased the interests of his copartners therein (65 per cent. of the whole), paying them, in addition to the inventory value thereof, a bonus of $20,500, which was thereafter carried on the books of his company as good will.
