On August 22, 1922, the American steamer Inca lay at a dock in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, where her cargo was being discharged by a number of native longshoremen, employed by the ship. One of the party was a diver by the name of Wah Wah. Adolph Beer was first officer of the vessel.
