The questions in this case grow out of the execution of the power of attorney by Lieutenant Ransom and his wife while at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, in 1859.

It is claimed on the part of appellants, (1) that the power of attorney given by Mrs. Ransom, a married woman, (jointly with her husband,) could not operate as a valid authority to the attorney named therein to convey...
