Gwen Bergman thought she had hired a hit man to kill her ex-husband. She searched the Internet, found a name, negotiated a deal, even tapped her mother's retirement account to pay the man $30,000. But it turned out he was an undercover officer. Or at least that's the story the government presented and the court credited at Ms. Bergman's trial.
