The appellant, Charles Lee McGowan, was convicted of murder, a violation of § 13A-6-2(a)(1), Ala.Code 1975. The trial court sentenced him, as a habitual offender, to imprisonment for life without the possibility of parole. See § 13A-5-9(c), Ala.Code 1975. McGowan did not file any posttrial motions. This appeal followed.
