This case involves the shooting death of Timothy Lamberton during the evening of December 21, 1996 in the hamlet of Mooers Forks, Clinton County. On the evening in question, defendant went to the residence of his former girlfriend, Helen LaPorte, ostensibly to deliver a Christmas gift for the LaPorte children.
