Plaintiff Ruben Morales ("Morales"), a resident of Luquillo, Puerto Rico, alleges that he was assaulted and injured in Puerto Rico while serving as a seaman on board the S.S. Borinquen, a vessel owned and operated by defendants. In February, 1988, plaintiff commenced an action against defendants in the Supreme Court of the State of New York.
