Nelson, against the State of Louisiana through the Departments of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and Public Safety (DPS).1 A petition of intervention was filed by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania seeking recovery for worker's compensation benefits and medical benefits paid to plaintiff James Nix.
