Defendant, Eldrix Arnold, was arrested on March 18, 1980, and charged with three counts of murder pursuant to sections 9-1(a)(1) through (3) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1) through (3)). The defendant was also charged with armed robbery and armed violence. The armed-violence count was nolprossed.
