YETKA, Justice.

Le Thi Bui was found strangled to death in her apartment on August 28, 1981. Following is a summary of the events leading up to her death.

Defendant, Ngoc Van Vu, emigrated to the United States from Viet Nam in 1975. He met Le Thi Bui, also a Vietnamese emigrant, in 1977, when both were employed by Goldberger Foods, Inc., in Minneapolis. In September 1980, defendant, Ms. Bui, and Ms. Bui's 13-year-old daughter Julie moved into an apartment...
