James McAnally was convicted of having violated 18 U.S.C. § 1005, which provides that any "officer, director, agent or employee of any Federal Reserve bank, member bank, national bank or insured bank" who "makes any false entry in any book, report, or statement of such bank with intent to injure or defraud" the bank shall be guilty of a felony punishable by up to five years' imprisonment.
