The defendant, Michael Machroli, was indicted for aggravated battery (Ill Rev Stats 1967, c 38, § 12-4) and unlawful possession of narcotics (Ill Rev Stats 1967, c 38, § 22-3). The two indictments were consolidated and tried together without a jury. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to the penitentiary for one to five years...
